Coinbase has finished folding Deribit into its business and says the result joins US and overseas crypto derivatives trading in one place. In a blog post dated October 7, the company announced Coinbase Global Exchange, which it said connects US and international derivatives markets "into a single liquidity pool" for the first time. It made the announcement at the Token2049 conference in Singapore, The Block reported.

Deribit is a crypto options exchange that Coinbase bought for $2.9 billion in cash and stock, a deal completed in August 2025, according to The Block. Coinbase said Deribit held about $30 billion in bitcoin options open interest as of September 30 and handles $1 trillion in trading volume a year.

The company also said Coinbase Pro will return by the end of 2026 as a separate platform for high-volume traders, covering spot, futures, perpetuals, options and equities. Spot margin trading will allow leverage of up to 10 times on major assets and up to 5 times on others.

The US part rests on guidance the Commodity Futures Trading Commission issued in May. Coinbase said it allows Coinbase Financial Markets, its US-regulated futures commission merchant, to connect American clients to global crypto derivatives markets.

Access will arrive in stages. Institutional clients come in through Coinbase Prime, and eligible traders outside the US get options in the coming weeks. US retail traders are expected to follow later this year, The Block reported. Coinbase has given no launch date for Coinbase Pro beyond the end of the year.
