Ethereum and Bitcoin wallet developers line up for Anthropic's free AI bug hunter

Crypto developers are queuing for an AI security audit. Anthropic opened OSS Scanner on October 8, a service that periodically scans open-source software for vulnerabilities at no cost, using its strongest models, including Claude Mythos. Maintainers apply by opening a request on Anthropic's GitHub repository.
Among the first in line: Nethermind, which builds an Ethereum execution client, asked for its entire codebase to be scanned, and the maintainers of ZEUS, a self-custodial Bitcoin and Lightning wallet for phones, applied on October 9. Cointelegraph also reported a request from VirtEngine, a Cosmos-based cloud marketplace. None had been accepted as of Saturday.
Anthropic says its models found more than 29,000 candidate vulnerabilities over six months, about 6,000 of which have been reviewed by people. When outside penetration testers checked 97 serious findings, 85 met the bar for disclosure and one was a false positive. Reports from the new service skip that human review, so some may be wrong, the company says.
Crypto has reason to care. Cointelegraph noted that swap provider Boltz suspended operations in August, saying attackers were building exploits faster than it could patch them.
What to watch: which crypto projects Anthropic accepts.
