There are about 135,694 crypto millionaires in the world, according to the Henley & Partners Crypto Wealth Report 2026, published on September 8, 2026. That counts people holding at least $1 million in crypto, using market prices on August 31, 2026. The figures are modelled estimates rather than a census, because crypto holdings are not publicly registered to names.

How many crypto millionaires are there?

The 2026 Henley report gives these headline estimates:

  • Crypto millionaires: 135,694 people with $1 million or more in digital assets.
  • Bitcoin millionaires: 92,272 people with $1 million or more in bitcoin alone. IBTimes UK reports the estimated range as roughly 74,000 to 114,000.
  • Centi-millionaires: 290 people with $100 million or more, 151 of them through bitcoin.

Henley also estimates 742 million crypto holders worldwide, so millionaires are a tiny share. See how many people own crypto.

Why did the number change from last year?

The 2025 edition, reported by The Block in September 2025, estimated 241,700 crypto millionaires, 450 centi-millionaires and 36 billionaires, using mid-2025 data. The 2026 numbers are lower, but Henley says it used a new methodology this year and that its figures are not comparable with earlier editions. Crypto prices also matter: these counts rise and fall with the market, as explained in why is crypto so volatile.

How many crypto millionaires are there in the US?

There is no reliable public figure. Henley's 2026 report does not break its millionaire counts down by country. It does rank the US fourth in its 2026 Crypto Adoption Index of 36 countries, behind Singapore, the UAE and Hong Kong, and says the US is the only country with a perfect score for public adoption.

Wider ownership data gives some context. A Pew Research Center survey of 8,512 US adults in January 2026 found 19% had ever invested in, traded or used crypto. That says nothing about how much they hold, though.

How many crypto billionaires are there?

Henley estimates 23 crypto billionaires as of August 2026, nine of whom qualify through bitcoin holdings alone. IBTimes UK reports Henley's range as 17 to 34, which shows how uncertain these estimates are.

Some of the largest single holdings are not tied to known individuals at all. The coins believed to belong to bitcoin's creator are covered in how much bitcoin does Satoshi have, and who owns the most bitcoin looks at companies, funds and governments.
