Yuga Labs takes the Bored Apes to Solana with 2.4 million trading cards, and every card trade buys ApeCoin
Yuga Labs has opened claims for Mudwater, a trading card collection built on Bored Ape Yacht Club artwork, and put it on Solana. "A new physical and digital BAYC collection on Solana, claimable now by all Bored Apes and Mutant Apes," the company wrote on X when claims opened on Saturday, according to crypto.news.
The first set has 120 artworks. The plan is 10,000 boxes of 24 packs, or 240,000 packs of 10 cards and about 2.4 million cards in total, TokenPost and crypto.news report. Each Bored Ape can claim 10 packs and each Mutant Ape two, which puts more than 140,000 packs up for claim now, according to TokenPost and Crypto Briefing. Claims close at 00:00 UTC on January 19, 2027.
The twist is in the fees. Every trade of a Mudwater NFT carries a 2.5% charge, which Yuga calls a reflection, that buys ApeCoin and hands it to collectors in proportion to what they hold, all three outlets report. It links the value of ApeCoin purchases directly to how much the cards trade, though returns are not guaranteed, crypto.news notes.
Some promised parts are not live yet. Converting between digital and physical cards is listed as coming soon, and upgrading packs into boxes is still planned, so collectors are claiming a mostly digital product for now.
