Robinhood has put $25 million of bitcoin on its balance sheet, crypto chief says

Robinhood now owns bitcoin of its own. Johann Kerbrat, the trading platform's senior vice president and general manager of crypto and international, told The Block in an interview on Wednesday, October 7, that the company has added $25 million worth of bitcoin to its balance sheet.

Kerbrat presented the purchase as a statement of intent. "We care deeply about bitcoin and the ecosystem around it," Kerbrat said. Kerbrat added that Robinhood's market value is in the $100 billion range, so $25 million of bitcoin will not change much about the company's trajectory.

The interview was on The Block's program The Starting Block. BitcoinTreasuries.net, which tracks company bitcoin holdings, reported that Robinhood did not disclose how many bitcoin it bought. The site estimated the amount at about 294 bitcoin, based on an average price near $84,960 for the week.

This is bitcoin owned by the company. It is separate from the crypto Robinhood holds for its customers, BitcoinTreasuries.net noted.

Kerbrat also gave a measure of the business behind the purchase: 28 million funded accounts, 27 million of them in the US and 1 million outside it, The Block reported.

Kerbrat described the purchase as a first step and was open to buying more, without committing to amounts or timing, according to BitcoinTreasuries.net. The site said it will replace its estimate when Robinhood's next public filing gives a confirmed figure.

Correction, October 7, 2026: An earlier version of this brief said BitcoinTreasuries.net reported that Robinhood had released no official statement or securities filing on the purchase. The site reported only that Robinhood did not disclose a bitcoin count.
