Samsung Wallet will let 82 million US Galaxy users send USDC on Solana

Samsung is putting a stablecoin into the wallet app that ships on its phones. The company said on Wednesday that eligible US Galaxy users will be able to send USDC, the dollar stablecoin issued by Circle, over the Solana network from Samsung Wallet and Samsung Pay, The Block reported. The rollout starts in the last week of October and covers about 82 million US Galaxy devices.
The feature is aimed at sending money abroad. Users can send USDC to compatible outside wallets, or to bank accounts in more than 60 countries, where it arrives in the recipient's local currency. Samsung said it charges no fee on transfers, though receiving wallets or exchanges may, and fees for bank payouts vary by country.
Coinbase will custody the USDC held in Samsung Wallet through Coinbase Prime, according to a Coinbase post cited by The Block. Bastion, a licensed US stablecoin custodian, operates the program with Samsung, and Sui infrastructure also runs in the background.
Samsung said it plans to expand to other markets where local rules allow. For stablecoins, it is one of the largest built-in distribution channels announced so far.
