Stocks rose on Wednesday and bitcoin went with them. The S&P 500 closed up 44.60 points, or 0.6%, at 7,757.17, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 360.21 points, or 0.7%, to 52,856.09, and the Nasdaq composite rose 278.04 points, or 1.1%, to 26,702.86, per the Associated Press. Babypips pointed to SpaceX's first profit as a public company and an above-forecast outlook from Super Micro Computer as likely drivers for technology shares, and said a Reuters report that the State Department was preparing to pull some staff from US embassies in the Gulf briefly knocked stocks lower and pushed oil back toward $100 a barrel; the order was later said to cover only Saudi Arabia. West Texas crude ended near $99.40, per Babypips, which labels its figures approximate.
