Fartcoin is a meme coin on Solana built around a flatulence joke. It has no product or roadmap. What made it notable is its origin, since the idea for it came from an AI chatbot rather than a person.

What is Fartcoin crypto, and where did it come from?

Decrypt traces Fartcoin to Truth Terminal, an AI bot created by researcher Andy Ayrey that became known for provocative posts on X. Ayrey has described the bot as an experimental art project. In 2024 it also received a $50,000 bitcoin grant from venture capitalist Marc Andreessen, Decrypt reported.

During an automated conversation between two AI instances on a project called Infinite Backrooms, Truth Terminal brainstormed token ideas. When asked which one it liked most, it answered Fartcoin. Unidentified users then created the token on Pump.fun, the Solana launchpad. CoinDesk lists October 18, 2024 as the launch date.

Decrypt reported that Truth Terminal's wallet received 20 million Fartcoin that same day, and that in January 2025 the wallet sent 15 million of them to other wallets in an over-the-counter deal Ayrey agreed to.

What chain is Fartcoin on, and what is its ticker?

Fartcoin is a token on Solana, issued in Solana's standard token format. Its ticker is FARTCOIN, and its official contract address is 9BB6NFEcjBCtnNLFko2FqVQBq8HHM13kCyYcdQbgpump. Many look-alike tokens use similar names, so the address is the reliable identifier. CoinDesk lists six decimal places, so a single token can be split into a million smaller units.

The Block lists a fixed supply of 1 billion tokens, essentially all in circulation, and says there was no presale and no allocation to venture investors or a team.

What is Fartcoin used for?

Nothing beyond holding and trading it. The project's own site says FARTCOIN exists purely for entertainment and calls it a meme coin with no intrinsic value or expectation of financial return. The Block describes it as a pure meme coin with no roadmap or utility. In other words, owning it gives no claim on any business, revenue or service.

Some asset listings repeat claims about staking or games, but CoinDesk notes the official site positions it as a community meme token that is not needed to run any app or pay any fees. Like other meme coins, its price moves on attention and social media mood, with no earnings to anchor it.

Tokens launched through open platforms carry particular risks, including insiders dumping supply and outright scams. See what is a rug pull for how those work.
