Is Bitget available in the US?
No. Bitget's Terms of Use list the United States, including Puerto Rico, Guam and other US territories, as a prohibited country, as of October 2026. Canada, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Germany, France and Austria are among the other places on that list. The terms allow Bitget to add more locations over time. Is Bitget regulated in the UK?
Bitget's UK access is built on the UK financial promotions rules. In May 2024 Bitget paused new UK customers, then relaunched in November 2024 after Archax, an FCA-registered firm, approved its marketing, Cointelegraph reported. Bitget's licence page describes its UK setup as partnering with an authorised person under section 21 of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000. Elsewhere, the same page lists an AUSTRAC registration in Australia and licences or registrations in South Africa, El Salvador, Mauritius, Argentina and other places, and press reports note registrations in Lithuania, Poland, Italy and Bulgaria. Our guide on who regulates crypto in the UK explains the UK framework.
Are Bitget Wallet and Bitget exchange the same?
No. The exchange is custodial, meaning Bitget holds your crypto in your account. Bitget Wallet started as BitKeep in 2018, and Bitget invested $30 million in March 2023 for a controlling stake before rebranding it, according to The Block. It is non-custodial, so you hold the private keys and recovery phrase yourself, and lost keys cannot be restored. Our guide on exchange vs wallet covers the difference.
Is Bitget legit and safe?
Bitget has published monthly proof of reserves since December 2022. Its July 2026 report stated a total reserve ratio of 122%. It also runs a Protection Fund that it says it keeps above US$300 million. These are company-published figures, and our guide on proof of reserves explains what such reports can and cannot show. Because the exchange holds customer assets and is licensed differently in each country, its protections depend on where you live.
