What is JasmyCoin (JASMY)?

JASMY is the token of Jasmy, a Tokyo company founded by former Sony executives that builds tools for people to store and share their own IoT data.

JasmyCoin, usually called JASMY, is the cryptocurrency of Jasmy Incorporated, a Japanese company that focuses on the Internet of Things (IoT) and personal data. The project's idea is that people, not large platforms, should control the data their phones, cars and other devices produce. The JASMY token is the unit used to pay for and reward that data sharing.

What is Jasmy crypto?

Jasmy is a company first and a crypto project second. Its company profile says it was founded in Tokyo on April 5, 2016, and provides IoT platforms and blockchain-based IT services. Its representative director is Kunitake Ando, a former president and COO of Sony, and its president and COO, Kazumasa Sato, also held senior roles at Sony businesses. Other executives come from Sony, KPMG and banking.

Gemini's overview describes Jasmy as combining IoT with blockchain so individuals keep control of their personal data. Two core tools are:

  • Personal Data Locker, a private storage space for a person's data.
  • Secure Knowledge Communicator, which checks a user's identity and manages who has permission to see what.

Gemini adds that the platform uses edge computing and IPFS, a decentralized file storage system, alongside Ethereum.

What is Jasmy coin used for?

According to Wealthsimple and Gemini, JASMY has three main jobs in the Jasmy ecosystem:

  • Rewarding data sharing. Users can earn JASMY when they let a business access data they have chosen to share.
  • Paying for services. It can be used to pay for things like data storage and IoT device management.
  • Moving value between devices. The token can be transferred between devices and used in a data marketplace.

Whether these uses see wide adoption depends on companies and users actually building on Jasmy's platform. The guide on what gives cryptocurrency value covers that question in general terms.

What is the JASMY token?

JASMY launched in October 2021 as an ERC-20 token, the standard token format on Ethereum. Wealthsimple lists a maximum supply of 50 billion JASMY, with most of that already in circulation.

In January 2026, Jasmy announced that JasmyChain had completed its move to mainnet. MEXC's news report describes it as a layer 2 network on Ethereum built with Arbitrum Orbit, an Arbitrum toolkit for launching custom chains. JASMY is its gas token, meaning fees on JasmyChain are paid in JASMY.

As of October 2026, JASMY therefore exists both as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum and as the fee token of JasmyChain. Anyone moving JASMY between the two needs to check which network a wallet or exchange supports, since sending tokens on the wrong network can lead to losses.
