Why is my crypto not showing in my wallet?

Crypto not showing in your wallet usually means the transfer is still pending, you are viewing the wrong network, or the token needs to be added manually.

When crypto is not showing in your wallet, the funds are usually still there on the blockchain and the app simply is not displaying them yet. The most common causes are a transfer that has not confirmed, a wallet set to a different network, or a token the app does not detect on its own. A few checks will tell you which one applies.

Why is my crypto not showing in my wallet?

MetaMask's help centre lists the main reasons a balance looks wrong:

  • The transaction is not confirmed yet. Check its status on a block explorer and wait.
  • You are on the wrong network. A token only appears on the network it was sent on, so a token sent on one chain will not show while your wallet is set to another.
  • The token is not detected. If the explorer shows it at your address but the app does not, add it manually.
  • Connection or display glitches. Restart the browser, turn off ad blockers or VPNs, or switch networks and back.

Coinbase adds that busy networks can delay transfers and that most complete within about 30 minutes. If the confirmation count stays at zero, contact the platform. Coinbase also says it cannot recover funds sent on the wrong network, so ask the sender for the explorer link to confirm what was used. Our guide on how long a crypto transfer takes covers typical times.

Why is my crypto not showing in Trust Wallet?

The same causes apply. Trust Wallet supports many blockchains, and its custom-token guide stresses picking the network that matches the token's chain. If the token is not in the app's list, you can add it yourself as a custom token. Paste your wallet address into the right block explorer first to confirm the funds arrived.

Why is a token not showing in MetaMask?

MetaMask detects popular ERC-20 and Solana tokens automatically on networks such as Ethereum, Polygon, Base, Arbitrum and Solana. Detection depends on community token lists and needs the "Basic Functionality" setting turned on. If a token still does not appear after refreshing the asset list, MetaMask suggests importing it by contract address.

How do you add a custom token?

In the MetaMask extension, open the three-dot menu in the tokens section, choose Manage tokens, then Add custom token, paste the contract address and click Import. In the Trust Wallet app, tap the + icon, choose to add a token, pick the network it lives on, and enter the contract address, name, symbol and decimals before importing.

Get the contract address from a block explorer or the project's official site. Trust Wallet warns that choosing the wrong network or address leads to errors. MetaMask also warns against trusting unfamiliar tokens that arrive unannounced, and says a block explorer message pointing you to a website is likely phishing. These tricks are explained in crypto phishing and wallet drainers and what a dusting attack is.
