To buy Toncoin, you can use a wallet built into Telegram, a standalone TON wallet such as Tonkeeper, or a crypto exchange. The coin was renamed Gram in June 2026, while the network kept the TON name, so the same asset may appear under either label. The history and the Telegram link are covered in what Toncoin is. KuCoin's notice on the change said balances and addresses needed no migration or action, so a message asking you to swap TON for GRAM is a warning sign.

How do you buy Toncoin in Telegram Wallet?

Telegram's @wallet service, built by a company called The Open Platform, was renamed Walt on September 28, 2026, crypto.news reported. Existing funds and settings stayed the same. A guide from the TON exchange STON.fi describes buying there: open @wallet, tap Deposit, choose a method such as P2P Express, select GRAM, pick your local currency and amount, then pay the seller you are matched with and wait for confirmation.

The STON.fi guide notes that @wallet is custodial, meaning the company holds the coins. It suggests moving them to a wallet you control. Network fees on TON are paid in Gram, so keep a little back when withdrawing.

How do you buy Toncoin on Telegram's self-custody wallet?

Telegram has also offered self-custody wallets, where you hold the keys. The Wallet help center describes buying in its TON Wallet with a bank card. You tap Buy on the token page, register by email with a partner called Mercuryo, enter payment details and pass Mercuryo's identity check. The wallet itself needs no verification, but the card partner does, and it may not serve every country.

Telegram has since been rolling out a newer native self-custody wallet for Gram to selected users, with Walt providing a way to fund it. Rollout is gradual, so not everyone has it yet. The difference between the two kinds of wallet is explained in custodial vs non-custodial wallets.

How do you buy Toncoin in Tonkeeper?

Tonkeeper is a standalone self-custody TON wallet. Its help page says you tap Buy TON on the main screen and pay by bank card through integrated partner services. You can also send coins from an exchange to your Tonkeeper deposit address, which starts with UQ, or use the swap option for other TON tokens. Check that a swap shows the real Gram before confirming, as what a token contract address is explains.

How do you buy Toncoin in the USA?

Coinbase says Toncoin is available on its exchange for US users. You verify your account, add a bank account, debit card or wire transfer, search for Toncoin, enter an amount from about $1 and review the order. Credit cards cannot be used. Robinhood's availability page lists Gram as tradable but not in New York. Telegram's self-custody wallet launched for US users on July 22, 2025, in partnership with MoonPay, The Block reported. Ways to send crypto to a wallet apply as with other coins.

Crypto prices are volatile, and wallet features, names and listings change often.
