How does crypto on Webull work?

Webull crypto is run in the Webull app by Webull Pay LLC, which uses Coinbase for most US customers and adds a spread to trades instead of a commission.

Webull crypto lets US customers buy and sell coins inside the Webull app, alongside stocks and other investments. The trades are handled by Webull Pay LLC rather than the Webull Financial brokerage, and Webull Pay relies on Coinbase for most customers. Crypto returned to the main US Webull app in August 2025, according to Finance Magnates.

Is Webull a crypto exchange or a crypto wallet?

Neither, in the usual sense. Webull's crypto page says trading is offered by Webull Pay LLC. Webull Pay's help centre says it partners with Coinbase to provide crypto services, while customers in New York, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands are served by Bakkt and hold an account there. Crypto Briefing reported in August 2026 that Coinbase's Crypto-as-a-Service platform runs the back end, including custody, with Webull's app on top.

In practice you trade through an app and a company holds the coins for you. That makes it a custodial setup, explained in custodial vs non-custodial wallets. Webull's crypto page advertises more than 70 coins as of October 2026, including bitcoin, ether, solana and cardano.

Does Webull crypto have fees?

Webull's fees page says there are no direct commissions or transaction fees on crypto. Instead, a 1% spread is added to the price, so a buy executes slightly above the market price and a sell slightly below. Stablecoins are exempt, and Webull says the spread can vary with market conditions. Its crypto page says there are no custody fees.

Limits as of October 2026:

  • Minimum order. $2 for most customers, $1 in New York, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands.
  • Maximum. $100,000 per trade and $200,000 in pending buy orders.

How spreads compare with other fee types is covered in what are crypto fees.

Is Webull crypto safe?

Webull's disclosures say crypto is not a security and is not FDIC or SIPC insured. The SIPC coverage on Webull Financial securities accounts, up to $500,000, does not extend to crypto. Bakkt, which serves some regions, is not a SIPC member. What this means for customers if a provider fails is covered in is crypto insured.

The Webull Pay help centre also carries a general warning to watch for fraud and scams.

Can you transfer crypto from Webull?

For most users, no. BrokerChooser reported in July 2026 that Webull does not allow most users to withdraw crypto to self-custody wallets elsewhere, so holdings stay on the platform. Webull Pay's help centre lists a Coin Transfers category, but Webull's public pages do not spell out which customers can move coins in or out. Selling and moving cash is the usual exit. Other broker apps handle this differently, as how crypto on Robinhood works shows.
