Yes, Stripe crypto payments let businesses accept crypto, mainly stablecoins. Stripe's stablecoin payments feature adds a Crypto option at checkout, and the business is paid in its local currency, so it never has to hold the tokens. The details below come from Stripe's documentation as of October 2026. For how crypto checkouts work across providers in general, see how do businesses accept crypto payments.

How does pay with crypto on Stripe work?

When a customer picks Crypto at checkout, Stripe sends them to crypto.stripe.com. There they choose a stablecoin and network, connect their wallet and approve the payment, then return to the seller's site. Customers can pay from anywhere except sanctioned countries.

Stripe's docs list these accepted tokens:

  • USDC on Tempo, Ethereum, Solana, Polygon and Base
  • USDP on Ethereum and Solana, US only
  • USDG on Ethereum, US only

Tempo is the payments blockchain Stripe helped incubate, covered in what is Tempo blockchain. Each customer payment is capped at $10,000. Stripe's support page says the product can take stablecoins and other cryptocurrencies, but the docs list only the stablecoins above.

Which businesses can accept stablecoin payments on Stripe?

Businesses based in the US can turn the feature on in the Stripe Dashboard. As of October 2026 it is in private preview for businesses in the European Union, Hong Kong, Mexico and Switzerland. It works with Stripe Checkout, Elements, Payment Links, Invoicing and subscriptions, and platforms using Stripe Connect can enable it for their sellers. Charges are shown in US dollars, with other currencies in private preview.

What are Stripe stablecoin payment fees, refunds and disputes?

Stripe's pricing page lists stablecoin payments at 1.5% of the transaction amount in US dollars. Stablecoins paid through Link, Stripe's saved-payment service, carry a separate promotional rate of 0.8% until January 1, 2027.

Refunds, including partial refunds, go back as stablecoins to the customer's original wallet. Stripe says stablecoin payments do not lead to disputes that become chargebacks. That is a key difference from cards, and why crypto transactions are hard to reverse in general.

Does Stripe offer crypto payouts?

Yes, in limited form. Stripe's support page describes:

  • Global payouts with stablecoins, which send USDC to a third party's wallet, in public preview.
  • Stablecoin payouts for Connect, in private preview for US platforms only. Individuals and sole proprietors in dozens of countries can link a wallet and receive USDC, though not in New York or Hawaii.
  • A crypto onramp, in public preview, that lets a platform's users buy crypto without leaving the app.

Stripe also lists a stablecoin business account in private preview. For why businesses use dollar tokens at all, see why use stablecoins instead of dollars.

Features, fees and supported countries change often, so check Stripe's current docs before relying on any of them.
