Is MEXC available in the US?
No. MEXC is not available in the US, which its user agreement lists as prohibited, and regulators in Ontario, Hong Kong and Germany have warned about it.
MEXC is not available in the US. The exchange's user agreement lists the United States as a prohibited jurisdiction, so US residents are not supposed to open or use accounts there as of October 2026. MEXC is a crypto exchange whose agreement is governed by English law, with disputes sent to arbitration in Hong Kong.
Why is MEXC not available in the US?
MEXC does not say why in its terms, but the effect is set out plainly. The user agreement names North Korea, Cuba, Sudan, Syria, Iran, Crimea, mainland China, Indonesia, Singapore, Venezuela, the United States and Canada as prohibited, and calls the list non-exclusive and open to change. Users must state that they are not residents of those places and must not disguise where their connection comes from. If MEXC finds that a user misrepresented their location, the agreement allows it to close the account and liquidate open positions.

Is MEXC legit?
MEXC is a real, operating exchange, but several regulators have flagged it. Ontario Securities Commission said in May 2025 that MEXC is not registered in Ontario to trade securities. Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission placed MEXC on its list of suspicious virtual asset trading platforms in March 2024, saying it targeted Hong Kong investors without an SFC licence. In October 2023, Germany's BaFin warned that MEXC offered services, including custody, without the required authorisation, CoinDesk reported. The Philippine position is covered in is crypto legal in the Philippines.
These warnings are about licensing. They are not findings of fraud, but they mean local regulators do not supervise MEXC in those places.
Does MEXC require KYC?
Yes, for most uses. MEXC's support pages say users need to complete identity checks to access its products, including core trading features and campaigns. Its agreement lists the documents it may ask for, such as a government ID, date of birth, address and a photo of the user holding the ID. MEXC may restrict an account that does not provide them. The general process is explained in what is KYC.
Is MEXC safe?
Safety depends on more than one factor. MEXC publishes monthly proof of reserves reports. In a September 2026 press release, it said a review by security firm Hacken found reserves above user balances for the assets covered, and users can check their own balances with a Merkle tree. A reserve snapshot does not cover every liability or guarantee future solvency, and using an exchange from a restricted country breaks its terms. That can lead to frozen or closed accounts.
