Can you sell crypto on a Ledger?
Yes, you can sell crypto on a Ledger through the Ledger Wallet app, formerly Ledger Live, where partners such as Coinify and MoonPay pay out to a bank.
Yes, you can sell crypto held on a Ledger hardware wallet, but the sale runs through the Ledger Wallet app, which was called Ledger Live until late 2025, and a partner company. The partner takes the crypto and pays the money into your bank. Ledger's own guide, updated October 8, 2026, names Coinify and MoonPay as partners. What the app does more broadly is covered in what is Ledger Live.
How do you sell crypto on Ledger Live?
Ledger's guide lists BTC, ETH, SOL and the stablecoins USDT, USDC, DAI and BUSD as assets that can be sold, with availability varying by region. The flow, as Ledger's developer documentation describes it, works like this:
- In the app, choose the asset, the currency you want, the amount, your country and the payout method.
- The app collects quotes from eligible partners and you pick one.
- You complete the details on the partner's page. Ledger says identity checks may be needed depending on the amount and location.
- The partner prepares the transaction, and the Ledger device asks you to approve or reject it.
Ledger says its Clear Signing feature shows each transaction in plain language on the device screen, so you can check it before pressing approve.
How does a Ledger sell to a bank work?
Ledger's guide says you enter bank details to receive the funds, and that bank transfers typically take one to three business days after the sale is processed. Prices can move between starting and finishing a sale. Partners set their own payout rules. MoonPay, for instance, pays only to verified bank accounts for UK and EU customers and lists 3 to 5 working days for a US bank.
What are Ledger Live sell fees?
Ledger does not publish a single fee. Its guide says fees are shown upfront before you confirm, and you can compare rates between partners. Network fees for sending the coins also apply. The wider costs involved are explained in what are crypto fees.
Can crypto be stolen from a Ledger?
The keys stay on the device, but funds can still be lost if the owner approves a malicious transaction. In December 2023, attackers published a tainted version of Ledger's Connect Kit software library, which some decentralized apps loaded. Ledger said users who signed the attacker's transactions lost funds, and The Block reported losses later rose above $500,000. Ledger's report did not say device keys were extracted, and it said it would move users away from blind signing.
The other common route is a fake app or message asking for the 24-word recovery phrase, covered in crypto phishing and wallet drainers.
