Why is my Binance account disabled?
A Binance account is usually disabled after suspicious activity, either by the owner or by Binance, and can be unlocked through security checks at login.
A Binance account is usually disabled because someone used the Disable Account feature after spotting suspicious activity, or because security checks stopped access. Binance says a disabled account can be unlocked from its website or app by passing security verification. A restricted account, where only some features are blocked, is a separate situation. This guide reflects Binance's global support pages as of October 2026.
Why would a Binance account be disabled?
Binance offers Disable Account as a safety tool. Its FAQ says the feature protects your assets if you notice suspicious activity, such as a login you do not recognize. In the app it sits under Account Info, then Security, then Manage Account. On the website it is under Account Management on the Security page. You read the notes and pass security checks before the account is switched off.
If you did not disable the account yourself, treat it as a possible security problem. Signs that someone else has your login are covered in how crypto gets hacked.
Binance account disabled, how do you unlock it?
Binance's unlock steps are short:
- Log in. A pop-up appears offering Unlock.
- Complete the security verifications shown. Binance says these vary with the account's status.
- Check the result. A successful unlock gives access straight away. An "under review" result is decided by email. A failed attempt can be retried or taken to customer support.
After a successful unlock, Binance says to allow up to 48 hours before withdrawing funds or trading on P2P.
How does Binance account recovery work if you lost 2FA?
If you cannot pass the checks because a phone or authenticator app is gone, Binance has a reset flow. At login, you choose the option saying security verification is unavailable, tick each 2FA method you lost, and confirm with the methods you still have. You may be asked for a new phone number or email, each confirmed by code.
Binance says a review team may take up to 24 hours. Once a reset goes through, withdrawals, P2P selling, internal transfers and payment services are disabled for up to 48 hours. Tips for setting up 2FA so this is less likely are in how to secure a crypto exchange account.
Is a restricted or locked Binance account the same as disabled?
Not always. A restriction can leave you able to log in but limit what you can do. One documented case is in the European Economic Area. Binance says it is asking existing EEA users to verify their identity again under updated EU anti-money laundering rules. Users are notified in batches, and if the deadline in that email passes, the account is limited to withdrawal only. Completing the requested verification restores full access.
Locks and restrictions can also follow identity checks, which what is KYC explains. Only follow instructions shown inside the official app or website.
